This is a link to the rundown of howards last day on terrestial radio, 12/16/2005
It's a great read and it's a thank you to the fans.

I know there are a few who say he means nothing it's not worth the money. But let me give you a little background on why I even care about him. Why I am a superfan as they might say, why I believe in him.

I first heard Howard by accident in 1984 downstairs in the American Legion Post my dad ran, on WNBC am. My dad is a fan of Soupy Sales (an old time comedian who had a show), Howard came on after him. Howard talked about everyday things. His life and it didnt seem plastic or phony. It was a place where you were listening in and found people like yourself. It was real funny, especially to hear adults have the same type of problems I had. You could say misery loving company. I was hooked. But then, Howard was fired right after that hurricane in 1985. and he was gone. He came back on air in 11/1985 to K-rock but i didnt know about it until early February 1986 when I was in my art class at Xaverian H.S. where Brother Clem let us hear the radio. And there he was... on mornings I was so happy he was there and never stopped listening since. I have been a loyal fan because he is funny and it didn't seem phony. I taped as much as I could over the years and have loads of audio cassettes, pictures, taped the channel 9 shows (1990-1991) and have over 50 tapes of the E shows (apx. 500 shows). Yes I admit there were times where I would stop listening for a while, but I would come back. Yes he is an entertainer, but I have been entertained. Curse words arent enough, and he knows that. Do you realize that until 1999, I did not hear a radio show that was even remotely funny? (That's when I heard Ron and Fez on WNEW-fm they are on XM now and proved me there was a way to be funny without being exactly like howard.) in 1994 I went to the book signing for Private Parts and was so amazed in seeing all those people, and meeting howard for the first time in person. I went to the book signing for Miss America in 1995 and Robins book signing too. It showed me I wasnt alone that there were other people like me and soon after I had friends, real friends not since High School. Howard has been an inspiration in my life to help others helped me in having friends and inspired me on things I want to do and achieve. In 2003, it inspired me to do an internet radio show with Dave to prove to myself if I wanted to do a radio show and with my friends, Dave, Hal, Dave Baskin and Allan and I found out I could do it and loved it. Howard has given me so much, he has shown me people can have fun and be happy.

Thank you Howard and Robin. Bob - a Sternfan since 1984 and very proud of it !!!

PS: of course, I got Sirius. I'm not leaving them now. I can't wait to hear what's next.
